Each title can have a cover image which is displayed in Royalties HQ, including on title details pages and title listings.
Managing cover images #
Cover images are stored at the title level (not per format). This means all formats of a title share the same cover image.
To upload or manage a cover image:
- Navigate to a title’s details page
- Click on the cover image thumbnail (or the placeholder if no image exists)
- The Cover Image Manager modal will open
- You can:
- Upload a new image
- Remove the existing image
- Replace an existing image
Image requirements #
- Supported formats: JPEG, PNG, WEBP
- Maximum file size: 8 MB
- Recommended: Avoid very large or very small images
Automatic cover image fetching #
Cover images can be automatically fetched from Google Books API when available. This feature can be enabled in Settings (main menu > Settings > Google Books Metadata). More details on auto-fetching book cover images here.
When automatic fetching is enabled:
- Cover images are fetched when an ISBN is added to a title format (via UI or CSV import)
- Only titles without an existing cover image will have images fetched
- The fetch happens in the background
Manual fetching for individual titles #
You can also manually fetch cover images for individual titles that have ISBNs and don’t already have a cover image. On the title details tab, look for the “Fetch metadata from Google Books” button under the cover image section.
