Publisher income

Track and reconcile publisher income payments against sales data, including multi-currency handling and Amazon KDP imports.

Publisher income represents the actual payments your company receives from distributors. It is the money royalties are ultimately calculated against.

Why publisher income matters

Sales data tells you what was sold, but publisher income tells you what you were actually paid. Reconciling the two is essential. It ensures royalty calculations reflect real revenue, not just reported units.

Recording income

When sales are reported in your publisher’s base currency, Royalties HQ can calculate income automatically from the sales data. For sales in foreign currencies, where exchange rates and distributor deductions come into play, you record the payment amount manually so the figures match what actually arrived in your account.

Importing Amazon KDP payments

Amazon KDP payment reports can be imported directly into Royalties HQ. Upload the payment file from your KDP dashboard and the system will match it to the corresponding sales data automatically.

Linking payments to sales

Each publisher income record can be linked to a sales batch, giving you a clear audit trail from the distributor’s payment through to the royalties owed. This is the foundation of accurate reconciliation.
