Sales data is the foundation of every royalty calculation in Royalties HQ. Whether you’re importing distributor files or entering data manually, the platform gives you full control over how sales flow into royalty runs, along with powerful tools to analyse what’s selling.

Importing sales data
Most publishers receive sales data as spreadsheets or CSV files from distributors. Royalties HQ lets you import these files directly, mapping columns to the right fields, or pull data in through pre-built distributor integrations. Once imported, sales records are automatically linked to titles and ready for royalty processing.
Wholesale orders
When you act as both publisher and retailer, selling wholesale to bookshops or other outlets, Royalties HQ can calculate net royalties on those transactions. Set up wholesale pricing and let the system handle the maths, so every order feeds cleanly into your royalty runs.
Returns and loss-making sales
Returns don’t require special handling. Sales with negative quantities or negative amounts are treated as returns automatically, reducing the royalties owed to rights holders. Loss-making sales (where costs exceed revenue) are handled the same way, ensuring your royalty calculations stay accurate.
Undoing a sales import
Mistakes happen. If you import the wrong file or discover errors after the fact, you can undo an entire sales import. This safely removes the sales data and unlinks any associated income, keeping your records clean without manually deleting individual transactions.
Insights dashboard
The Insights dashboard turns your sales data into actionable intelligence. Filter by date range, title, rights holder, or sales channel to surface your top performers, track geographic distribution, and spot trends over time. Interactive charts and tables make it easy to answer questions about your catalogue at a glance.
